About Kathleen
Kathleen fell in love with the Bay as a child growing up in Silver Spring and fulfilled her lifelong dream of living by the water when she moved her family here in 1999. Kathleen embraced the Town and its community from the start, becoming a regular lector at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in North Beach, providing her landscaping skills along the Boardwalk, and being the go-to neighbor for everyone on her block. Kathleen has two sons, both of whom went to Beach Elementary School, played Little League baseball at Kellam's Field, and spent their high school summers working at the Water Park, and a Puggle named Rowdie, who loves to walk the Boardwalk and chase birds along Brownie’s Beach.
CAREER BACKGROUND
Kathleen is committed to preserving the small town charm and historic parts of our Town and will lead that effort as a council member. Her background consists of more than 35 years of public service as a police officer, federal employee, and town leader. Kathleen spent more than 22 years as a law enforcement officer, beginning with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC as a cadet. After a 20 year career with the Prince George's County Police Department, she retired achieving the rank of Major, with her last Command, the Office of Professional Responsibility to include: the Internal Affairs Division, Departmental Shootings and Use of Force Compliance. Following retirement from law enforcement, Kathleen continued her public service with the federal government. She spent more than a decade working at the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), overseeing the IRS.
SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
Outside of her professional career, Kathleen has been an integral member of the Chesapeake Beach community in multiple capacities. She was nominated to and has served on the Town's Planning & Zoning Commission since 2020. For the past two years, she has served as the Chair. Kathleen also is a Port Warden and a member of the Tree Board. For the last four years, she has been a Water Captain for Save the Bay Foundation working to ensure and protect the natural beauty, majesty and eminence of the Chesapeake.
